Cairo Opera Ballet Company will perform a selection of short ballets to the music of renowned composers Ravel, Piazzolla and Brahms. Ballet Danses qu'on croise will be performed to Johannes Brahms' Hungarian Dances with choreography by Thierry Malandin. Brought to Egypt by Abdel Moneim Kamel, Bolero, a ballet performed to the composition of the same name by Maurice Ravel, was first performed in Egypt in 1983. Choreography is by Maurice Béjart. The last ballet to be performed is Tango, to the music of Ástor Piazzolla, Argentinian composer and bandeon player. Choreography is by Joseph Russillo, a renowned American-French choreographer who worked for several years at Milano's La Scala. Over the past years, Russillo has visited Egypt on several occasions, working with the Cairo Opera Ballet Company. Among his well received efforts with audiences and critics alike is a ballet based on Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring, created independently from the choreographed version suggested by Bejart. All three short ballets are returning dance performances to the Cairo audiences. Cairo Opera Ballet Company Artistic Director: Erminia Kamel; Artistic Supervisor: Abdel Moneim Kamel; Cairo Opera Orchestra Conductor: Hisham Gabr.
