The 10th Annual BMG Foundation Classics Concert, which was due to be attended by a number of Saudi royals, including Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel, has been postponed as a mark of respect due to the passing of Saudi Prince Nayef bin Abdul-Aziz .  The concert, entitled “Amwaj – Water Symphony” was to be performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by world-renowned Vartan Melkonian, with a special guest performance by Malek Jandali.  Organisers say the concert will held later in the year. The concert was one of two events to be held in the United Kingdom this week, which were organised in an effort to raise awarenes about the benefits of water conservation across the Middle East.  Still going ahead, will be the 16th annual Annual GCC Polo Cup in the royal borough of Windsor.  In attendance will be Queen Elizabeth, and guests of honour, Saudi Prince Khaled bin Sultan bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud and Saudi Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel, representing the Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation. This year, the GCC Polo Cup Award will be in honour of the late HRH Prince Sultan bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, which will be accepted by his son HRH Prince Khaled bin Sultan as a tribute the great efforts spent for water conservation in the Saudi Arabian Kingdom by the late Prince Sultan. The GCC Polo Cup is an annual charity tournament held in Guards Polo Club, Windsor, the proceeds from which are donated to international environmental and humanitarian causes. Hosted by the BMG Foundation as a global appeal to businesses and merchant families for their support, The Queen of England, His Royal Highness Prince Khaled bin Sultan bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud and Her Highness Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel will present the award to the winners of the ‘Our Water, Our Life’ public awareness campaign, which has been well received throughout Saudi Arabia over the past six months. Saudi charity, BMG Foundation, organised the events to promote the conservation of water across the Arab World.  BMG Foundation, a Saudi NGO which is dedicated to serving the less fortunate around the world, executes prestigious charitable events that raise funds for sustainable cultural programmes and assist the needy. This year, the BMG Foundation will expand its philanthropic reach in collaboration with The Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation, which is involved in a wide spectrum of humanitarian activities reaching more than 70 countries worldwide, with main focus areas established around strategic initiatives, ranging from Disaster Relief and Community Development, to Women and Youth Empowerment, as well as Promoting Global Cultural Understanding. Attending the event will be Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel, wife of Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal and vice-chairwoman of the board of trustees of the Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation. Princess Ameerah has been instrumental in its success by supporting a wide range of humanitarian interests in both Saudi Arabia and around the world. In visiting NGO’s and other aid and development organizations, Princess Ameerah has helped to improve and promote the image of Saudi women as she represents the Foundation, implementing projects and conducting field service trips. Her Highness Princess Ameerah has spoken out publicly in the US on NBC’s Today, CNN International and NPR, as well as in Time magazine and Foreign Policy Magazine in support of both women’s right to drive in her country of Saudi Arabia and the broader issue of women’s overall empowerment to contribute fully in Saudi society. Noted for her forward thinking and nuanced approach to revolution in the Middle East, she has been featured in Newsweek, The Daily Beast, Huffington Post, was interviewed by Piers Morgan.  In 2012 Princess Ameerah was recognized as the most high profile newcomer to CEO Middle East “100 Most Powerful Arab Women” 2012 list, arriving in fourth place.
