Directed by Charlie Chaplin, The Gold Rush (1925) is his first movie in which his iconic character of The Little Tramp appears. The screening of the movie is part of a Charlie Chaplin retrospective that celebrates the 125th anniversary of Chaplin’s birth and the centenary of The Tramp. The Bibliotheca Alexandrina Chamber Orchestra (BACO) conducted by Hisham Gabr will perform works by profilic composers Bach, Haydn and Mozart. Haydn's piano concerto No 11 in D Major will feature internationally renowned Egyptian pianist Ramzi Yassa. Read more here. CirCairo performances at El-Geneina Theatre at 8pm
Spearheaded by Al-Mawred Al-Thaqafy (The Culture Resource), CirCairo brings contemporary and traditional circus art from around the world to various venues across Egypt every two years. On Sunday, three acts will grace the stage of Al-Azhar Park’s Geneina Theatre: Bover from Spain; The Three Heroes of Jutland from Denmark, a daring act that has toured across Europe as well as Syria; and Darbaka by Al-Darb Al-Ahmar Arts School. The school’s students are residents of Al-Darb Al-Ahmar neighbourhood and have been learning about circus arts and percussion for over five years.
