RUSI, the Royal United Services Institute is hosting a dialogue between filmmaker Jon Amiel and Dave Brown, the president of President of Motion Pictures and Literary Development at Hollywood Studios International, to discuss war and how it's represented in film. RUSI, a London-based security and defense think-tank, will ask Amiel and Brown to explore questions of how violence is portrayed and fantasized in film, how the industry deals with history, and how the public responds to such films. Amiel is a major player in the film industry, famously directing The Tudors as wells the movie Entrapment. Brown was involved in the Oscar-winning film, The Hurt Locker, which takes place during the Iraq war. Clips from their films will be shown, and they will address the issues of how war is depicted, and how the industry is affected by the politics of the time.
