Osman El-Mahdy playing solo violin and David Hales on piano team up for an evening including pieces by Händel, Beethoven and Brahms. The evening will include George Frideric Händel's sonata No 3 in F Major; Ludwig van Beethoven's sonata op 12 No 1 in D Major; and Johannes Brahms' sonata No 1, op 78, in G Major. Osman El-Mahdy is an Egyptian violinist, founder of the Cairo Opera String Quartet and head of the Suzuki method violin classes held under the umbrella of the Talents Development Centre at the Cairo Opera House. El-Mahdy is also a former konzertmeister of the Cairo Opera Orchestra (1994-2005) and professor of violin and chamber music at the Cairo Conservatory (1989- 2005). The concert was preliminarily planned to take place on 3 February but was postponed due to the Port Said football tragedy on 1 February followed by days of national mourning.
