The director of Egypt’s National Archives, Abdel-Wahed El-Nabawe, has told Ahram Online that he is going to call on the Revolution’s Documentation Committee, a group dedicated to documenting Egypt's January 25 Revolution, to meet again during the next few days to continue its work after months on hiatus. El-Nabawe said the committee’s work was halted because it lacked the technical support and the necessary computers and servers to launch the committee’s website on the internet, to put the content it collected online. “These devices and servers are expected to be delivered to the committee over this month,” said El-Nabawe. The committee was established in March 2011 and is headed by historian Khaled Fahmy, chair of history at the American University in Cairo (AUC). The committee also included historians Sherif Younis, Mohammed Afifi and Nevine Mosaad, professor of political science at Cairo University. The committee is charged to collect oral testimonies, newspapers since the revolution broke out, videos, pictures and all other materials related to the revolution. Fahmy says that the aim is not to write a history of the revolution, but rather to provide rich raw materials to the historians of the future to allow them to write histories of the revolution backed with testimonies, videos, news and all the necessary materials for their work. Fahmy told Ahram Online that he is still on the committee, but did not receive an official invitation for the meeting, though he is looking forward to continuing the work of this project.
