Saltimbanco, the longest-running show by the entertainment group Cirque du Soleil, had its Doha premiere at Aspire Dome in front of a capacity crowd yesterday evening. There are five more shows – 8pm today and at 4pm and 8pm tomorrow and on Saturday. Saltimbanco, from the Italian “saltare in banco”, which literally means “to jump on a bench”, is a kaleidoscopic celebration of awe-inspiring artistry and agility. With a cast of 50 artistes from 21 countries, it features acrobatics and athleticism during solo spotlights and epic ensembles.
