Algerian singer Souad Massi and French guitarist Eric Fernandez, forming a duo, “Choeurs de Cordoue,” will open the 2013/2014 music season of the Paris’ Arab World Institute (AWI) with a concert to be held next October 11, the Institute announced. Created in 2010, the duo has already performed in many music festivals in France, including the 25th festival of Martigues organized from July 22 to 25 and the 4th festival of “Jazz aux frontiers” of Montgenèvre in the Hates Alpes region, also held from 1 to 3 August 2013. Born in Algiers in 1972, Souad Massi began in the 1990s before heading to Paris (France) where she shows up her artistic talents as singer and instrumentalist (guitar) performing in Arabic, French and English. She is, now, one of the best Algerian voices in Europe where she released her first album, entitled “Raoui” (narrator), in 2011.
