H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, emphasised that France has a prominent role in preservation of historical documents relating to the GCC region and being an incubator to various cultures and literatures.
The remarks were made when Sheikh Sultan launched the French copies of his books "Hadeeth Al Thakira" (Discourse from Memory) and Hasad Al Seneen (Harvest of Years).
The event, held in Paris, the capital city of France, was attended by high-profile figures, a number of ministers of culture, ambassadors, members of diplomatic corps, and a number of representatives of cultural centres, historians and authors.
Sheikh Sultan talked about his meetings with a number of French presidents. He also shed light on his two books, which narrate an important era in the history of the UAE, which saw multiple developments and huge achievements.
Former French Culture Minister Frederic Mitterrand welcomed Sheikh Sultan and shed light on the history of Sharjah, highlighting its cultural role in preserving heritage and culture as well as its pursuance of the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Among those who attended the event were Maadhad Hareb Mughair Al Khaili, UAE Ambassador to France, Abdullah Ali Misbah Al-Nuaimi, Permanent Representative of the UAE to UNESCO, and other French ministers, UAE cultural figures, representatives of Arab diplomatic corps missions and media.
