Salafists in Egypt:After the Revolution by a number of researchers, Beirut: Arab Diffusion Company, 2012. 283pp. This new book by the Arab Diffusion Company's Centre for Religion and Politics Studies attempts to shed light on a number of topics, including the history of the Salafist movement, especially the "Salafist Calling" that first appeared in Alexandria in the 1970s and from which the Salafist Nour Party originated in the wake of Egypt's January 2011 revolution. The book documents the history of the Salafist movement, especially following its emergence in Egypt's post-revolution political arena and its establishment of several successful political parties. The book also tackles the Salafist position on democracy and last year's revolution, as well as the movement's relationship with Egypt's powerful Muslim Brotherhood.
