Ajman Tourism Development Department, ATDD, is organising the Second Liwa Ajman Dates Festival in August, the department announced Wednesday.
"Upon Directives from the ATDD Chairman, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, the event will be held on an annual basis from now on," ATDD General Manager, Faisal Al Nuaimi, said, calling the festival a distinguished tourism event that would gather UAE nationals and residents, as well as visitors to the emirate.
The announcement came on the back of a meeting that gathered ATDD officials and members of the organising committee of Liwa Dates Festival in Abu Dhabi.
Al Nuaimi added, "Both sides agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on ways to enhance mutual coordination and cooperation with the aim of organising the event in Ajman."
Liwa Dates Festival Manager, Obeid Khalfan Al Mazroo'ie, lauded the move by ATDD, affirming that his team would offer all possible support to render Ajman's version of the dates festival a success.
A joint committee will be held to follow up the work progress until the planned inauguration of the event in Ajman in August, Al Mazroo'ie added.
