His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, performed Eid Al Fitr prayer at Al Khour Mosque in Muscat on Monday morning on the first day of Eid Al Fitr.

Sayyid Fahd was accompanied during the Eid prayers by their highnesses; members of the royal family, ministers, undersecretaries, advisors and prominent figures.

Sheikh Dr Is’haq bin Ahmed Al Busaidi, Chairman of the Supreme Court, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Judiciary Council led the Eid prayer. He began the Eid sermon with Takbir (exclaiming Allah is Great), glorifying and thanking Allah the Almighty for His many blessings, praying on the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), thanking Allah for completing the fasting of Ramadan and making easy for ways of charity and doing well.

The Khutba (sermon) covered the reward of Allah for those who kept the fast during Ramadan, highlighting the commands of Allah the Almighty and rejection of evil doings, in addition to lessons from praying, fasting and reciting the Holy Quran. The sermon also called on avoiding differences and disunity.

Sheikh Al Busaidi added that the true Islam, through its provisions of the Sharia, and all its moral and ethical values, aims at building a cohesive nation in its structure, beliefs, perceptions, worship, customs, morals, ideals, principles, purpose, hopes and pain, all are seen in the acts of devotion as commanded by Allah the Almighty

He affirmed that the unity of the Islamic nation and its interdependence, based on the promotion of virtue and the prevention of vice as the Holy Quran states "Verily, this brotherhood of yours is a single brotherhood, and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore, serve Me (and no other)". Allah the Almighty warns the nation to follow the course of the division and difference.

He added that if the nation is united, supported and advocated, it can reform all its affairs and ruled out all the causes of dissension among its members and is being feared by its enemy, there is no gap among its members, which can be reached through it as the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) said "A believer is for a believer as a structure, each supporting the other".

He added: "The nation, if takes these values and avoids everything that leads to the division, will become one nation that rises under the worship Allah the Almighty and His piety and fear. He called upon all Muslims to abide by obedience and piety of Allah the Almighty.

He appealed to Allah to ensure many happy returns of the day for His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and to grant him good health, happiness and a long life. He also prayed to Allah to safeguard the Sultanate of Oman and all Muslim countries and unify all Muslims towards good.

After the Eid prayer, Sayyid Fahd received the well-wishers on this occasion. They expressed their best wishes to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, praying to Allah the Almighty to grant His Majesty continuous health, happiness and a long life and the Sultanate of Oman further progress and prosperity under the wise leadership of His Majesty the Sultan.

Sayyid Fahd thanked all well-wishers, wishing them a blessed and happy Eid. He prayed to Allah the Almighty for the return of this happy and other similar occasions on His Majesty the Sultan for many years to come with blessings and wellbeing, grant him success for the good of this dear country and to achieve further progress, peace and stability for the Sultanate and its people under his prosperous reign.
