Indian School Ibri celebrated its 20th Arts Festival with great zest and fervour in the school auditorium. The closing ceremony of the three-day programme was held on Friday. Initiated in 1993, the Arts Festival, the 'festival of talents', aims at bringing out the latent talents of the students of Indian School Ibri. It is the most sought after platform which unleashes the creative abilities of students. The school has been providing a platform to create confident and creative children. Sachin Bawa and Mahesh Verma, directors in-charge of the school from the Board of Indian Schools in the Sultanate, graced the occasion as the chief guests at the closing ceremony. They were accorded welcome by president Abdul Gafoor Quadri, members of the school management and others. Dr R R Nair, founder member and former president of the SMC, T S Daniel, former president of SMC, Atanu Roy, principal of Indian School Nizwa and many other distinguished guests were present on the occasion. Welcoming the guests, Quadri expressed his gratitude towards  His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and his government for their magnanimity towards the Indian community in the Sultanate. Addressing the audience,  chief guest Mahesh Verma said, "Children are our future and it's the duty of every parent and teacher to bring them up as good human beings and good citizens." He added that education doesn't mean getting only information and knowledge, but it also aims at emotional and social development of children. He stressed that education should aim at identifying and nurturing the innate talents of children and bring out the all round development of their personality. Times Of Oman
