His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sport Affairs (SCYS) Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa announced that his camels would participate in the second edition of the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival.
The festival, which is named after the founder of Saudi Arabia, is being held under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud at Al Sayaheed, in Al-Dahna’a. The festival management has lined up a series of heritage activities on the sidelines of the event.
The camels of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa will be registered and assessed tomorrow, Wednesday, before competing in the individual races in "Al-Majaheem" category. HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa said that the participation in the festival followed directives from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa in support of Bahraini and Gulf heritage.
"The participation in the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival aims at consolidating heritage and traditions and sending a message to present and future generations to preserve heritage and traditions towards strengthening national belonging", he said.
He paid tribute to the Saudi leader for patronizing the festival, which represents a catalyst to participants and visits to promote Gulf culture and preserve heritage, stressing the importance of camels in the history of the Arabian Gulf region.
