His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa patronised today Bahrain First Festival 2014 which was organised by the Education Ministry at Bahrain National Stadium. HM the King was welcomed by Education Minister Dr. Majid Al Nuaimi and other officials amid cheers from participants including around 30,000 students from public and private schools.
His Majesty thanked the teachers as well as the students and their parents for their noble feelings and patriotism underlining the importance of education as a pillar for a more prosperous future. He paid tribute to the teachers for their efforts in bringing up the generations on the quest for knowledge.
HM the King directed to start implementing in the next academic year the "Digital Empowerment in Education" scheme as an advanced step in boosting the Schools of the Future Project and promoting a knowledge-based economy.
"You are the pillar for the future," HM said addressing the students and urging them to do their utmost for Bahrain and its prosperity.
Dr. Al Nuaimi congratulated HM the King and thanked him for patronising the festival which is organised for the eighth consecutive year as part of the kingdom's celebrations of its National Days on December 16 and 17, marking the anniversary of the establishment of the modern state of Bahrain as an Arab and Muslim country in 1783 by its founder Ahmed Al-Fateh, the 43rd Anniversary of its accession to the UN as a full member and the 15th Anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa’s Accession to the Throne.
"This festival aims to foster national cohesion," the minister said, pointing out that "A Nation for All" slogan is part of the educational values the Education Ministry is trying to instill in students through academic curricula and various activities.
Dr. Al Nuaimi thanked all those who contributed to the success of the festival, asserting that all educational projects are progressing constantly and according to a schedule for all stages thanks to the support of HM the King.
The minister presented HM King Hamad with a commemorative gift, a work by the technical and vocational students.
