H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Monday called GCC cultural institutions to pay more attention to theatre in order to play its essential role in communicating sound thought and combating improper conduct.
In his welcome address to the first edition of Sharjah Festival for GCC Theatre , Sheikh called for instituting a competition for child and youngsters theatre under the supervision of Sharjah Department for Culture and Information.
The festival will feature a number of theatrical works and seminars.
The opening event was attended by H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, other Sheikhs and a number of UAE and GCC dramatists and cultural figures.
