H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah attended this evening, in presence of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, opening of the 14th Sharjah festival Days.
The opening ceremony saw traditional shows about UAE's diverse cultures, as well as folklore dances. Also taking part were folklore groups from Bahrain, Oman and Macedonia.
In attendance at the opening ceremony were Sheikhs, senior officials, guests and diplomats.
Following the opening, Sheikh Sultan toured the heritage area and was briefed about the festival's programmes and activities. He stopped at Souq Al Arsa and the stand of the University of Sharjah.
Sheikh sultan also visited Al Masjid Al Jami and the stand of Macedonia, the guest of honour of this cycle of the festival.
The Sharjah Heritage Days festival is held under the theme "Heritage for Nature Conservation". The festival focuses this year on the heritage of the UAE and the GCC countries. Other countries taking part include Egypt, Morocco, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, India, Pakistan, Spain and Macedonia.
