Syria participates in the 13th edition of the International Resistance Film Festival (IRFF) which was opened in Tehran on Sunday with the participation of 36 countries.
In an opening speech, Speaker of Iranian Parliament Ali Larijani warned the great powers against the consequences of inflaming crisis in Syria and Iraq, pointing to the important role of the resistant art in highlighting the US unfair practices against the people of the region.
Larijani stressed that the US administration had created and supported the terrorist organizations in Syria.
This year festival is to present 30 international films from Syria, India, Russia Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Palestine and 100 other Iranian films.
“King of the Sands” for the Syrian Director Najdat Anzour which tells the story of the rise of Al Saud ” kings of Saudi Arabia” in addition to a US movie on the life story of Nelson Mandela and other international movies will participate in the 5-day festival.
The 2014 edition of the festival has added a new category titled ‘Takfiri Crimes’ into the year’s festival’s programs.
The new category focuses on the documentaries presenting the crimes of the Takfiri militants known as The Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS).
The year’s special section is ‘Imad Moqniyeh Award’ with focus on terrorism and the crimes of Takfiri and Wahhabi groups.
This year event also includes for the first time an award for the best film from the onlookers point of view, another award is dedicated for the best film from the perspective of the families of the martyrs in addition to many prizes related to movies on Gaza.
