Renowned Egyptian actor Yahya el Fakharani left Tunis on Saturday returning to Cairo, without taking part in the closing ceremony of the Carthage Theatre Days (JTC) Festival.
Sources told MENA that Fakharani refused to be honored by the festival administration instead of Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi.
The sources added that Tunisian Minister of Culture Mohamed Zine El Abidine met with the Egyptian actor to dissuade him from leaving the country, but to no avail.
The two sides agreed to show Fakharani's play in Tunisia during the first quarter of 2017 and to arrange for honoring the Egyptian actor by the Tunisian president
