Within the pages the new book, In Search of Sanctuary, ($18.99, paperback, 9781626979123; $9.99, e-book, 9781626979130) Jamie E. Kirby draws together a timeless historical fiction with a score of well-developed characters. The complex storyline ushers readers along the journey between two continents—all set in the 1890s. At the very core of this literary piece, the author desires to share that God’s presence is guaranteed, even in the face of extreme disappointment, violence, or setbacks.
“Since 9/11, our lives have radically changed,” states the author. “Our sense of security about both present and future has been forever altered. What has not changed is God's faithfulness. In these increasingly frightening, unsettling, and dangerous times, it is critical to find the one true place of sanctuary—God Himself.”
Jamie E. Kirby grew up in the mountains of western North Carolina. An early interest in languages led to study in Europe. She earned Bachelor’s degrees in Spanish and English, and later a Master’s degree in Spanish. After working as a high school teacher, she worked many years in international business, spending much time out of the United States and in various places within the States. Formerly an instructor in an Alabama community college, Jamie now teaches high school English in Arizona, where she currently resides. In December of 2013, In Search of Sanctuary won an honorable mention for Christian literary fiction in Xulon Press’s 2013 Christian Writers Award Contest.
