Kuwait will be the guest of honor at the Palestinian International Book Fair that kicks off on May 7, Palestinian Minister of Culture Ehab Bseiso has said.
Kuwait's participation will be official, and a host of intellectuals will also attend, the minister told reporters in a press conference at the Ministry of Culture in Ramallah on Wednesday. Bseiso pointed to Kuwait's prominent role on the Arab cultural scene, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
A significant dimension of the fair that runs as far as May 17, is that Arab intellectuals will come to Palestine "to be among us, in an obvious defiance of all policies to isolate the Palestinian people." Up to 400 publishers and 160 Arab and Palestinian dignitaries will take part in the fair which is themed "Palestine Reads." The event will be opened on the birthday of Palestinian poet Tawfiq Zyad, KUNA reported.
