The American University in Cairo Press (AUC) will host author Ashraf Khalil at 6pm Monday, 7 May, at the AUC Press Tahrir Bookstore. The author will participate in an open discussion about his new book, Liberation Square: Inside the Egyptian Revolution and the Rebirth of a Nation (AUC Press, 2012). The book is a dramatic and absorbing eyewitness account of Khalil's experience in the throes of the January 25 Revolution, combined with an insightful overview of Egypt’s modern history. Khalil, a 40-year-old American-Egyptian correspondent, has covered the Middle East for 15 years. He is a former Los Angeles Times correspondent in Baghdad and Jerusalem and a former editor-in-chief of Cairo Times, an independent weekly news magazine. His articles appear in various prominent publications including The Economist, The Times, The Wall Street Journal, the San Francisco Chronicle, and The Christian Science Monitor.
