Michael Thoreau has recently released the final installment in a trilogy that follows the protagonist Mike Thoreau in a series of events that not only threatens his life but also global security. Based on a true story, “The Speculator” (published by Xlibris) chronicles Mike’s desperate quest for answers in a labyrinth of global terrorism, political intrigue and international conspiracy.
“The Speculator” picks up after the events of the second book, “My Brother’s Wife.” In the third book, Mike has been called back to London to marry a young Arabic-English college professor but things are not as simple as they seem. Mike must travel to his fiancé’s homeland, Turkey, and, from there, he must drive down to Iraq where things take an even more sinister and dangerous turn.
In Iraq, Mike has to monitor an English-American lawyer and his group of Islamic radicals, who are plotting an intricate scheme with devastating repercussions for the United States. In the midst of Machiavellian machinations, life-threatening situations and shady dealings, Mike fights not just for the truth but for his very survival. “The Speculator” is a deftly orchestrated thriller that will keep readers engaged from beginning until the novel’s astonishing conclusion.
