Paul Swenson, an investigative journalist, wrote many stories on the real-life events that inspired his book, “SLAPPED!” (published by AuthorHouse). He became so intrigued that he spent four years researching and interviewing the people involved to produce his novel. All of the content is true to life, except for the names of the characters. “SLAPPED!” tells how two headstrong, conservative Mormon moms bent on preserving open space and wildlife habitat near Utah’s Jordan River speak out publicly against a 110-acre multimillion-dollar retail project. They are sued by the developers for 1.7 million dollars, and told that if they keep their mouths shut and stop protesting, the lawsuit would be dismissed. Despite the threat of losing everything, the two women continue to fight for what they believe in even though neighborhood vandalism, malicious gossip and dirty tricks ensue. The women struggle to keep politics and religion separate. This book will make people laugh, cry, and anxious to read the next chapter. Paul Swenson is the brother of the highly influential 20th Century American poet May Swenson. “SLAPPED!” features an original poem, “Earth Your Dancing Place,” by May that describes the essence of the book.
