Russian gas deliveries to Slovakia are down by half what they are contractually meant to be, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said on Wednesday.
"Today (Slovak gas importer) SPP recorded a 50 percent drop in gas deliveries," Fico said in the capital Bratislava, but he assured reporters the supply gap had been filled with spot purchases.
Slovakia, which is heavily dependent on Russian gas deliveries, recently began pumping gas to Ukraine at EU behest, after Russia cut those supplies off. Bratislava saw Russian gas deliveries dip by five and 20 percent last month.
