Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation signed with INJAZ on Saturday a JD750,000 agreement with the aim of creating economic opportunities for Jordanian youth. Under the “student companies initiative” agreement which was signed by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Jafar Hassan and CEO of INJAZ Dima Bibi, the ministry will work to support and finance the implementation of the initiative at 10 public universities across the Kingdom. Hassan said the ministry attaches special attention to the youth sector to enable it to take part in the economic development process, mainly in poor and remote areas through a number of initiatives that will be carried out with partners from governmental and non-governmental sectors. The minister highlighted the importance of the project, which will be officially launched this month, in enhancing capabilities of Jordanian youths as well as instilling in them the spirit of productivity. He said the project will start in the next academic year, adding 225 companies with 5,000 students will be established over a period of three years. The project, he added aims at promoting capabilities of university students as well as their skills to enable them to set up successful projects and businesses. CEO of INJAZ highlighted the importance of the program as it will enable students to establish special companies with capital and management under the voluntary’s supervision.
