Cairo - MENA

Security apparatuses in Gharbia governorate managed to seize large quantities of smuggled goods before being sold on the black market.

As many as 300 tons of rice, 3,130 imported cigarette packs have been seized before being resold on black market in the northern governorate.

All legal measures have been taken and the prosecution has been notified to launch a probe.

Security crackdown on smuggled goods are being launched upon directives issued by Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar to intensify surveillance on markets to fight commercial fraud and control prices.

On Sunday, up to 36 tons of rice and sugar were seized -during a similar security campaign - before being sold on the black market in Nasr City and el Marg suburbs.
