Tubli-based General Municipal Centre has so far issued 9,132 construction permits for development projects across Bahrain since January, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Dr. Jumaa bin Ahmed Al-Kaabi said.
He released the updated figures today, citing the directives of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier to streamline licence-issuance procedures so as to attract capitals and woo investments.
"The permits have been issued from January up to November for industrial, investment, residential and trade projects which cover 3,949,974 square meters", Dr. Al-Kaabi said, stressing the importance of the construction surge in boosting the urban and economic development.
In a statement today, he pointed out that the development schemes which were given the green light include residential buildings, industrial and housing projects in additions to service projects and other facilities.
The Northern Municipalities has obtained the lion’s share with 3,099 construction permits, followed by the Southern Municipality which totaled 2,408 construction permits. Meanwhile, Manama and Muharraq Municipalities have totaled respectively 1,870 and 1,755 permits for various development, industrial and residential projects.
