Abu Dhabi Ports and ERC sign MOU to strengthen humanitarian partnership
Abu dhabi - WAM

Abu Dhabi Ports has signed an MoU with the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, to promote humanitarian partnership between the two entities as part of the #Year of Giving 2017.

The MoU comes as a move to promote collaboration between Abu Dhabi Ports and the ERC, in line with their efforts to achieve the best outcome for their implemented policies and strategies geared towards providing charitable, humanitarian and social work.

The MoU was signed by Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports, and Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, Secretary-General of the ERC.

As outlined in the MoU, Abu Dhabi Ports will provide logistics support to Emirates Red Crescent by dedicating a 550 square meter warehouse in Zayed Port to the charitable organisation, which will be called "The Warehouse of Giving", inspired by the "Year of Giving".

Speaking on the occasion, Captain Al Shamisi, described the agreement as an important addition to Abu Dhabi Ports’ list of partnerships and a significant contribution to optimising the humanitarian aid work of the ERC. "As a gesture of humanitarian support for charity and to participate in the spirit of the Year of Giving announced by the UAE leadership, Abu Dhabi Ports is happy to provide a warehouse in Zayed Port for such a great cause," he added.

Al Shamisi lauded the formidable efforts of Emirates Red Crescent to enhance the lives of families in need and help displaced victims of catastrophes and disasters, pointing out that Abu Dhabi Ports’ initiative comes in appreciation of Emirates Red Crescent regional and international humanitarian initiatives, and in acknowledgement of the authority’s role in alleviating human suffering.

Dr. Al Falahi stressed the importance of the MoU in opening wider channels for collaboration between Emirates Red Crescent Authority and Abu Dhabi Ports, saying, "The Memorandum reflects the will of both sides to coordinate efforts and activate cooperation venues to offer humanitarian and charitable work. It enhances a strong partnership to advance humanitarian work in the UAE."

Dr. Al Falahi expressed his appreciation to Abu Dhabi Ports for its continuous support of Emirate Red Crescent’s programmes and activities, and emphasised the great value of the logistic support offered by Abu Dhabi Ports to Emirates Red Crescent in its vital humanitarian services.
