Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security Mohamed El Ghazi, reaffirmed the commitment of the public authorities to reach a consensual version of the new Labour Code as part of the social dialogue within the tripartite meeting.
During a meeting on Tuesday evening devoted on the presentation of the preliminary draft of the Labour Code, the minister said that the new law was drafted on the basis of the government's approach to adapt national labour legislation to the challenges induced by mutations that Algeria has known and in accordance with international commitments, the ministry said in a release.
According to the same source, the Secretary General of the General Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA) Abdelmajid Sidi Said, present at the meeting, expressed the trade union’s support to the dialogue which "aims at reaching a consensual version of the new Labour Code, likely to allow us to adapt to the economic mutations and preserve the sector’s achievements in Algeria."
As for them, the representatives of union organizations of the Employers expressed readiness to contribute to enriching the Code in order to achieve equilibrium between the expectations and the interests of all the actors, the release concluded.
