Housing Minister Bassim bin Yaqoob Al-Hamar affirmed that in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Ministry has developed plans to build 40 thousand housing units across Bahrain's governorates in a period not exceeding 6 years, which will contribute significantly to meet the growing demand for housing units and reduces the waiting period.
This came as the Minister paid a field trip to East Hidd's work site, in which he announced that the Ministry had already embarked on the construction work of the first neighborhood of the project, including 483 housing units, pointing out that the 398 housing units of the second neighborhood will be put out to tender before the end of November.
A presentation was screened about the implementation of the project, which included the Ministry's current and future plans in East Hidd, East Hidd city sea reclamation in 2012, laying the foundation stone of the Hidd Housing project under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister and the implementation the first neighborhood, in collaboration with a consortium including Kuwaiti Khalid Ali Al Kharafi and Brothers Company and Bahraini Nass Group.
The Minister asserted that the Ministry's successive achievements is the result of the remarkable and unlimited support of the leadership and the government to social housing.
