The High Coordination Committee between Municipal Councils and Service Ministries convened here today under the chairmanship of the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf.
Capital Trustees Board Chairman, municipal councils' chairmen. CEO of the Electricity and Water Affairs Authority (EWA), Works Ministry's Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs, Housing Ministry's Undersecretary, Works Ministry's Undersecretary for Public Works, Assistant Undersecretary for Health, Assistant Undersecretary for Roads and a number of officials from the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning were also present.
The minister said that upon directives from the government, the Works Ministry is keen to hone all potentials and resources to support the efforts of municipal councils and the Capital Trustees Board in order to be able to assume their duties.
He affirmed the constant keenness of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, to provide all requirements of success for municipal councils, noting that the High Coordinating Committee was established to achieve optimum level of coordination between municipal councils and service ministries regarding development projects.
The panel reviewed the recommendations submitted by municipal councils. They reached 1,477 between 2010 and 2014, 46% were related to service departments, and 213 in 2015.
Chairmen of municipal councils and the Capital Trustees Board extended their sincere thanks to the government bodies for their cooperation, calling for the need to consolidate mechanisms of cooperation further.
They discussed issues of top priority for them.
They also discussed a proposal to establish joint coordinating committee to fast-track joint action.
Representatives of government sides affirmed that municipal councils and the Capital Trustees Board were the government's partners in the kingdom's development process.
