The budget deficit rose to EGP 230.9 billion, constituting 9.9 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP), during the period from July to April 2014/2015, the Ministry of Finance said Thursday.
The new figure is compared to EGP 163 billion a year earlier, a report released by the ministry said.
The state revenues increased to EGP 321 billion during the same period compared to 314.7 billion pounds a year earlier, it added.
Expenditure soared to EGP 541.7 billion against EGP 471.8 billion, the ministry added.
