ISMAILIA, Dec 31 (MENA) - CSCL GLOBE, world's largest container ship, transited Suez Canal on Wednesday en route from Malaysia to England.
The vessel paid fees amounted to 934,451 dollars.
Head of Suez Canal Authority Mohab Mamish got on the deck of the ship, owned by China Shipping Container Lines, once it sailed into the marina of the authority.
The Chinese consul to Egypt and the ship owner were on the deck of the ship to welcome Mamish.
Mamish said the move sends a message to the entire world that the Armed Forces are capable of securing the waterway of Suez Canal.
The gigantic ship is 1,312ft long, 192ft wide and 100ft deep, making it bigger than four football fields, and can carry 19,000 standard-size 20ft containers.
