The Business Registration and Licensing, BRL, sector in Dubai Economy has announced the opening of the first model grocery in the city that fully complies with the new standards brought in to establish a unified brand identity and improve service quality across the retail sector as part of reinforcing Dubai as the region’s preferred shopping destination.
The ‘Broadway Grocery,’ opened along Sheikh Zayed Road, has incorporated all the design elements and facilities as stipulated in the new guidelines introduced by Dubai Economy to ensure greater consistency and visual appeal, including a unified logo, colour scheme, signage, interior fixtures, display units, storage area, fittings and lighting. Dubai-based ‘IBA House’ provided the design and interior solutions for the model grocery.
Omar Bushahab, CEO of BRL, Mohammed Ahmed, Store Owner of Broadway Grocery, and Nasser Mubarak Al Khater, Director of IBA House, were present at the official opening of the grocery.
"Dubai is witnessing a quantum leap in terms of infrastructure, services and logistics, and the city is striving to meet the needs of the various segments of its society in line with its reputation as a commercial hub and preferred place to live. We thank Broadway for its quick response and compliance to the standards set by Dubai Economy.
"The standards will enhance competitiveness within groceries, increase service quality in the retail sector, ensure an exceptional shopping experience for consumers and strengthen Dubai’s position as a shopping destination regionally and globally," Bushahab said.
He further added that BRL will organise weekly workshops for grocery store owners at the Smart Lounge in Dubai Economy to inform them of the new standards applicable across store interiors as well as exteriors.
"We urge all grocery stores in Dubai to move fast and integrate the new standards before the end of 2018. It will contribute to the development of a single brand identity across all groceries and support the efforts of Dubai Economy to improve the quality of retail services. Eventually, it will promote sustainability, competitiveness and growth across business sectors and accelerate economic development in Dubai, and the UAE in general," Bushahab added.
