The Jadara electronic system for e-recruitment, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Civil Service, registered more than 72,000 graduates competing for 5,523 female teaching jobs during the past three days.
The ministry started its acceptance procedures last Wednesday, and extended the application period until next Tuesday for all applicants.
The ministry’s spokesman Hamad Al-Muneif confirmed on his Twitter account that his ministry has no role in determining the quantity and quality of these jobs, and that its role is limited to filling the jobs that come to it from government bodies.
He added that the extension of the application period, which was supposed to end on Sunday, was in order to meet the wishes of applicants.
Al-Muneif subsequently demanded an expansion of the application period.
Mubarak Al-Isimi, spokesman at the Education Ministry, apologized for a delay in releasing the appointment decisions for some administrators who had applied for new jobs.
He said he had communicated with the relevant bodies in the ministry to find out the date of their appointments, which were expected at the end of last week but had been delayed slightly, causing some applicants to worry.
Additionally, some girls and boys schools were late in organizing their curriculum because of the delay in appointing transferred teachers, which subsequently delayed the teaching process in these schools.
Al-Muneif said that the list of female graduates who are seeking teaching positions in the education sector is very large, noting that the number of applicants increases disproportionately each year in comparison to the actual number of educational jobs available.
