Trade and Industry Minister Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour said Sunday Egypt and Lebanon will sign an agreement within the coming few weeks to activate the implementation of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA) to increase the volume of trade between the two countries.
The signing is expected to be held during Lebanon Agriculture Minister Akram Chehayeb's visit to Cairo early next month, Abdel Nour told MENA on Sunday.
He said that the agreements will include only two exceptions concerning limiting export to only 50,000 tons of potatoes to Lebanon and to regulate the export of citrus fruits.
Meanwhile, Abdel Nour said Lebanese officials told him that they are looking forward to see Egypt restoring its pioneering role in the region.
