Finance Minister Amr el Garhy has agreed to close 157 government accounts as of October 1.
Those accounts should be merged into accounts of a central unit at the Central Bank of Egypt, said Mohamed Mo'eat, assistant finance minister for public treasury affairs on Tuesday.
The move is meant to support the electronic financial payment system with the aim to settle dues of parties working with the Finance Ministry, Mo'eat said.
