Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil on Tuesday launched the first industrial investment map in Egypt.

The map included 4,136 investment opportunities in eight industrial sectors.

Engineering industries counted for 1,265 opportunities, while chemical industries counted for 861 and food industries 649. Other sectors included textile industries at 605 opportunities, mining 395, pharmaceuticals 183, metallurgical 122 and leather industries 56 opportunities, he pointed out.

The map was announced at a conference that was organized by the Ministry of Trade and Industry in cooperation with the Ministry of State for Migration and Egyptian Expatriates.

Attending the ceremony were ministers, governors, bank chairmen and foreign ambassadors accredited here along with senior businessmen and investors.

In statements, Kabil said that the map is the first of its kind in Egypt. It took around one year to be outlined by a team of experts grouping 200 engineers and technicians who made inspection tours of more than 100 industrial areas nationwide to collect their data, he pointed out
