Manama - Bna

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa directed today the Electricity and Water Authority to map out a scheme to help people pay their outstanding arrears. At a work meeting he chaired today, HRH the Prime Minister instructed the authority to work out a flexible plan to recover dues from subscribers who fell behind paying their bills.Arrears will be recovered from non-paying subscribers in the trade, industrial and tourism sectors first, and, then, the well-off and other people, it was revealed.A Bahraini citizen pays less than 50% of the original electricity cost and less than 20% of the water production cost. A total of 10,000 Bahraini low-income families enjoy an extra government subsidy regarding electricity and water bills. HRH the Premier stressed the government would continue taking measures to ensure subsidies reach targeted people in various fields. Then, HRH the Prime Minister reviewed progress in implementing services and recreational projects while ensuring their easy connection to the road network. In this regard, he directed the Works Ministry and the Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry to immediately start providing alternative entries and exits for Prince Khalifa bin Salman Park to ensure easy access to it.
