The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) citizenship workshop kicked off here Monday with the participation of a large delegation from the member states.
The two-day event is organized by Ministry of Higher Education in collaboration with the GCC General Secretariat.
"The workshop aims to strengthen the bonds of love and kinship among people of GCC states," Minister of Education and Higher Education Essa Al-Bader said in the opening speech of the workshop.
He pointed out the workshop is organized in implementation of a recommendation by the GCC ministers of higher education and scientific research in their recent meeting in Riyadh.
Al-Bader welcomed all Gulf delegations partaking in the workshop.
"Enhancing the concept of GCC citizenship among Gulf people, particularly youth, is the main objective of the workshop," Al-Bader said.
For his part, GCC Assistant Secretary General for Human and Environment Affairs Abdullah Al-Hashim said that the GCC leaders are keen on forging ahead with the efforts that aims to promote Gulf unity and integration.
