The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has not requested the Egyptian government to lay off two million civil servants as part of the 12-million-dollar loan agreement signed with Egypt, the cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) said.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the IDSC said it has contacted the Finance Ministry which on its part denied such reports and termed them as "baseless".
The Egyptian government has no intention to lay off any civil servant during fiscal years 2017-2018 or 2018-2019, the IDSC stressed.
