Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, on Monday, instructed the Ministry of Labor to ensure that the private sector institutions and companies remain committed to Article (4/c/3) of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act No. 31 of 2007.
This particular clause relates to the employment of persons with disabilities in accordance with the conditions contained therein.
Ensour also instructed the President of the Civil Service Bureau (CSB), Khalaf Hmeisat, to ensure that at least four percent of the jobs in the institutions are given to persons with disabilities, provided that the nature of work in the organization allows them to perform these jobs. Also, they must follow the recommendations issued by the CSB and also provide the government’s coordinator on human rights and the Higher Council for Affairs of Persons with Disabilities (HCAPD)'s secretary general the statistics about persons with disabilities employed in these institutions.
Earlier, the Prime Minister called on ministries, public institutions and departments to comply with article 4/C/3 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities act No. 31 of 2007, and its amendments.
In the circular to the ministries and public institutions, Ensour stressed that the Kingdom's approach towards the disabled citizens comes from the Arab and Islamic values, Jordan's constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the principles and provisions laid down in international conventions on the rights of persons with disabilities.
The government’s coordinator on human rights, Basil Tarawneh, said that the government’s decisions come in line with its approach of caring for people with disabilities, which reflects the nations' progress and the fact that it takes care of its citizens with disabilities.
