Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) has launched an agricultural development center in Akkar, north of Lebanon.
After the opening ceremony, Secretary-General of the Future Movement Ahmad Hariri told (KUNA) on Thursday that the center would make huge difference in the city in terms of agricultural production and marketing as well as giving support to farmers.
He expressed his appreciation to Kuwaiti leadership and people for standing by the Lebanese people through many hardships throughout the years.
On his part, KFAED representative in Lebanon Nawaf Al-Dabous said that the center will give help through giving farmers in Akkar storage, packaging and storage units for their produce.
The center will also create job opportunities and provide services to farmers and merchants in Akkar and the nearby towns.
Al-Dabous added the KFAED has always supported economic, social, cultural and health developmental projects in order to promote Lebanon's economy.
The launching ceremony was attended by a number of Lebanese MPs, mayors of nearby towns, and representative of (EMKAN) that is responsible of running the center.
KFAED has offered to Lebanon 20 loans of USD 612 million so far. It has also given out grants worth of USD 420 million to support many vital projects in health, education, agriculture and transportation.
