A field team from the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) is leaving to Jordan and Lebanon to distribute badly-needed relief aid to Syrian refugees in both countries, KRCS Chairman Hilal Al-Sayer said on Friday.
Refugees in the two countries are suffering severe weather conditions as a freezing wave is sweeping the region.
The Society is hard at work to meet the basic needs of the Syrian refugees, amid the freezing weather and the heavy rain, Al-Sayer added in a press statement.
He noted that the KRCS had formed a follow-up center monitoring the needs of Syrian people both at home and in neighboring states, coordinating with the Jordan National Red Crescent Society (IFRC) and the Kuwaiti missions and embassies in the Kingdom and Lebanon.
Al-Sayer pointed out that since the eruption of the crisis, the KRCS has been doing its best to help the refugees urging Kuwaiti people and firms to offer more support to "Syrian brothers." In a related development, the Jordan office of Al-Rahma International Charity, an affiliate of Al-Eslah Society (Society for Social Reform), started today offering aid worth USD 80,000 to Syrian refugees in the Kingdom.
The relief aid provided by Zakat House and several Kuwaiti benefactors will be given to 550 families at Zaatari camp over three days, head of the office Basil Shahhada told KUNA
