Kuwaiti Minister of Oil and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Dr. Ali Al-Omair and his party arrived here Wednesday evening on a two-day official visit to Egypt.
The visit, which comes in response to a kind invitation from Egyptian Prime Minister Eng. Ibrahim Mehleb, aims to cement the already close ties between the two countries, he told KUNA.
"His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah would have come here but for his prior engagements; so his tasked me with the mission on his behalf," the minister said.
"The talks with Eng. Mehleb and Minister of Petroleum Sherif Ismail will explore ways for strengthening cooperation between the two sisterly countries in several fields, particularly the energy sector," he said, noting that both countries face common challenges.
On his part, the Egyptian minister lauded as close, special and historical the ties with Kuwait which has big investments in Egypt's energy sector.
In statements to KUNA, he expressed hope that Al-Omair's visit will take the bilateral ties to a new height.
Al-Omair was received at Cairo International Airport by Kuwait Ambassador to Egypt Salem Ghassab Al-Zamanan.
