Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab received on Thursday a report from Social Solidarity Minister Ghada Wali on an initiative meant to eradicate poverty in Egypt's remote areas.
The Shahr el Kheir, or the month of good deeds, initiative aims at unifying efforts of the government and private sector to provide all areas, especially the poorest ones, with high-quality services.
The report called for fair distribution of aid supplies among areas using advanced applications and databases.
Contacts are underway with the Ministry of Urban Development to select the active non-governmental organizations operating in slum areas, Wali said.
She added that a deal was inked with the Global Napi Pharmaceuticals to provide free medicine for the poor people across the nation.
