Doha - QNA

The Ministry of Transport and Communications signed here on Wednesday a Governmental Framework Agreement with IBM to take advantage of its software products in content and documents management "IBM FileNet documentation,"formerly known as "FileNet." The Ministry also signed an Intergovernmental Framework Agreement with SAB aimed at enhancing the technical efficiency as well the use of resource planning software, systems and other applications provided by the company as part of the Ministry's strategy to drive the digital transformation in all government sectors.
In this context, the Ministry signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Texas A&M University in Qatar for cooperation in the overall development of telecommunications and information technology in Qatar.
The MoU was signed by Assistant Undersecretary for Society's Digital Development and Dean and Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Texas A&M University Dr. Cesar O. Malave.
The signing of the three documents took place on the sidelines of the Fourth edition of the QITCOM Exhibition and Conference 2017 which concludes today.
The first agreement aims to enable enterprises and government agencies to dispense with the traditional methods to save and archive documents on paper, which requires the allocation of human cadres.
The agreement meets the needs of government institutions to develop work using systems and techniques capable of providing the ability to save and archive documents in a safe and effective manner. The second agreement will promote the use of resource planning software and systems and other applications provided by SAB.
The MoU signed between the Ministry and Texas A&M University in Qatar focuses on developing the information technology and communications sector through mutual projects and initiatives to support innovative, academic capabilities in the Qatar society. The MoU focuses on providing facilities to develop local small SMEs and startups.
