In line with its commitment to promote a unified e-payment platform and enhance its sophisticated network to collect government resources on a regional and global level, the Ministry of Finance, MoF, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MoFA, and the National Bank of Abu Dhabi, NBAD, recently organised two e-Dirham system workshops in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
The workshops, attended by more than 46 embassies and consulates in the UAE, showcased the development stages of the e-Dirham system in its first and second generation, which was launched after the Ministry’s announcement to develop an integrated system of payment software and gateways in 2001.
The system was created for collecting service fees for the federal government through pre-paid cards, which has contributed to improving the delivery of public services and rationalising the consumption of government resources in the UAE.
The Ministry of Finance, in a press note, has said that it reviewed the latest statistics of the e-Dirham system and electronic and smart services provided to users, in addition to looking at the mechanisms of e-connections to the system between ministries and local federal entities.
The MoF also discussed the latest agreements on the adoption of the e-Dirham system signed by Dubai e-Government, Dubai World and the Ras al-Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
