New Suez Canal
Ismailia - MENA

Dredger Nile River will arrive at the site of the new Suez Canal project on Monday, said executive director of the dredging works at the project Wagdi Zaki.
The dredger, owned by an American-Belgian consortium, is coming from Turkey, he added.
The new arrival brings to 35 the number of dredgers operating in the project, of which five are owned by the Suez Canal Authority, he said.
So far, they managed to lift 115.13 billion cubic meters of water-filled sand out of the set target of 250 billion cubic meters.
The new project will expand the existing Suez Canal linking the Mediterranean and the Red Sea.
The enlarged canal will allow ships to sail in both directions at the same time over much of the canal's length. This is expected to decrease waiting hours from 11 to 3 hours for most ships and to double the capacity of the Suez Canal from 49 to 97 ships a day.
